GORGEOUS, CALM WEATHER WEEK AHEAD… Nice, calm, sunny days and clear nights are ahead for south Alabama and northwest Florida. The northwest wind today is ushering in cool, dry, continental air. Here are a few weather-related notes you’ll want to see…

BREEZY & COOL TODAY & MONDAY… Winds 15-20 mph out of the northwest are happening across our region today due to the passage of the cold front last night. Winds will subside somewhat overnight before picking up again on Monday. ALL sunshine today and on Monday! Temperatures peak around 67° today and near 68° on Monday afternoon. Overnight lows at 6AM on Monday will be chilly, near 40° in most spots.

WARMER DAYS AHEAD… Temperatures quickly rebound on Tuesday into Wednesday as we approach 80° in the afternoon hours. There could be a few passing clouds late Wednesday night into Thursday as a dry front moves through. No rain is expected until a week from today, on Sunday, April 22. Way too early to even start speculating about severe weather/storm potential, but it is April in the Deep South, meaning we’ll have to keep an eye on this next system.

HISTORIC FLASH FLOODING… Parts of northern and central Clarke County, Alabama had the worst flash flooding that has ever been documented in those respective areas last evening. Radar estimates and ground truth reports have pegged areas near Fulton and Grove Hill picking up 7-10″ of rain in total over the 12 hour period. There were several reports of roads being washed away near Fulton, a community just east of U.S. Highway 43 south of Thomasville.
