SUNNY, DRY WEDNESDAY; SHOWERS & STORMS THURSDAY… Plenty of sunshine is likely on this Wednesday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Showers and thunderstorms will again move across our area on Thursday during the daytime hours, but for now, the good news is severe weather parameters remain very low! Let’s talk details…
NO RAIN TODAY… No rain/storm issues are expected today across the region. High temperatures will be comfortable, in the mid-70s for most of us. In fact, much of the state of Alabama will top out in the 70s. There may be a few puffy, white cumulus clouds in the sky this afternoon, but I’m not expecting rain until early Thursday.
LITTLE/NO SEVERE ISSUES ON THURSDAY… An area of low pressure will swing by to our north, bringing with it a brief chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday. Again, the severe weather potential with this system for south Alabama and northwest Florida appears to be quite low as of now. Unlike the last weekend when we had ample shear to support a few tornadoes, this system doesn’t have nearly as much shear and very low instability to work with. This is good news for us!
RAIN TIMING ON THURSDAY… Rain chances will be greatest across our region from 9AM to 5PM, with the Noon to 2PM looking like the wettest couple of hours for most of us. Grab the umbrellas and rain jackets before you head out the door on Thursday. Rain will have likely exited our area to the east by 6PM on Thursday.
FEW SHOWERS FRIDAY… Our next system will be a small impulse in the midlevels of the atmosphere that could churn up a few showers late on Friday. I think most of us will be dry, but I can’t rule out a few showers late in the day on Friday.
DRY, NICE, WARMING TEMPS AHEAD… After the small risk of rain on Friday, Saturday will kickoff an extended slew of days that will be exceedingly dry. Temperatures will climb into the 80s starting Sunday afternoon as high pressure builds in from the west. Early next week looks sunny, warm, and calm. Great news for early May!
