SEVERE STORM MOVING INTO MOBILE METRO… Large hail and damaging wind gusts will be possible over the next few minutes in the core of the Mobile, AL metro area. Please be inside and away from windows if you’re in/near Crichton, Forest Hill, Prichard, Midtown, Downtown Mobile, Navco, Brookley Field, Tillmans Corner, and surrounding areas.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR BALDWIN COUNTY WARNING… The National Weather Service in Mobile chose to issue the latest severe thunderstorm warning for much of central Mobile County and for a tiny, tiny section of marshland of Baldwin County near the Causeway. While I am grateful for our awesome local weather service office, we will not disseminate warnings via our app alert system for an entire county when literally no population centers (at all) are included. I’ve expressed my concern to NWS Mobile about this. I am afraid situations like this contribute to folks “tuning out” severe thunderstorm warnings, when in reality, they are a big deal!
