MORE STORMS LIKELY TODAY; SEASONAL SUMMER PATTERN SET TO CONTINUE… Pop-up thunderstorms are likely again on this Tuesday, mainly in the evening hours. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-80s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will pop up late this morning into the early afternoon hours. The overall coverage of storms will increase into the evening hours. Widespread severe weather continues to be unlikely today (no tornado threat), but some of the storms will produce loud thunder and cloud-to-ground lightning at times. A few more Tuesday morning forecast details are below.
STORMS LIKELY IN THE DAYS AHEAD… Scattered pop-up thunderstorms will continue to be likely in each of the next 7 days. I do not see anything in the long-range model data that would support significant forecast changes at this time. High temperatures will continue to be in the 80s and near 90 each day with morning lows in the low- to mid-70s.
TROPICAL DISTURBANCE NEAR AFRICA… The National Hurricane Center has flagged an area of disturbed weather associated with an area of low pressure just south of the Cabo Verde Islands near the African continent. This system will likely never have any direct U.S. impacts. From NHC: “A surface trough of low pressure over the far eastern Atlantic Ocean located a few hundred miles south of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some slow development of this system is possible during the next couple of days while it moves northward or northwestward before the system moves over cool waters by Thursday. Locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds are possible over portions of the Cabo Verde Islands through Wednesday.”
