INCREASING CLOUDINESS TODAY; FEW SHOWERS THURSDAY… Clouds will increase in coverage across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Wednesday ahead of increasing rain chances on Thursday as a frontal boundary slides by the area. High temperatures today will be in the low- to mid-60s. Showers will become possible as early as tonight, but most of the rain that happens over the next 36 hours will happen in the daytime hours of Thursday. Severe storms are not expected on Thursday and I expect any thunderstorms to be confined to the northern Gulf of Mexico as instability values across land areas will likely be meager at best. Sunshine returns for Friday and Saturday ahead of our next cold front slated to move by on Sunday. Rain and storms will become likely at times on Sunday. A few more Wednesday morning forecast notes are below.

RAIN POSSIBLE AT TIMES TOMORROW… Scattered showers will be possible at times on Thursday as a weak area of low pressure moves by our region. There is a chance some communities may not have much rain at all, but some communities may pick up as much as half of one inch of rain in total. Thunderstorms are not expected on Thursday and the severe weather risk remains at zero. Highs on Thursday will approach 70 degrees in many spots across the region.

SUNNY & COOL ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY… After the passage of a cold front on Thursday night, cooler, drier air will filter into the local area from the northwest. Sunny skies will return for Friday and Saturday. High temperatures will be in the 50s on Friday and low-60s Saturday. Overnight lows on Friday night will be in the mid-30s.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES SUNDAY… Showers and thunderstorms will again become likely on Sunday as another cold front approaches from the north. Rain chances will be in the 60-70% range across the region. For now, it looks like the main zone for any low-end severe weather issues may set up to our northwest across parts of the Mississippi Valley region. Highs on Sunday will be in the low-70s.
