SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS THUNDERSTORMS AGAIN TODAY… Just like yesterday, numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday. Some of the storms will be rowdy at times, producing loud thunder, cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy rain, and even gusty winds in the strongest of the storms. Fortunately, there is no discernable tornado risk today and widespread severe weather remains unlikely. High temperatures will be near the 90 degree mark today. The tropics remain quiet, for now. ELEVATED RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEK… Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue to be the norm across our region over the next several days. Precipitable water values (in other words, how much moisture is available in the atmosphere) remain quite high, thus providing plenty of moisture fuel for showers and storms to tap into today and over the next few days. Most of the storms in the days ahead will happen in the peak heating hours between 11AM and 7PM. No formal severe weather risks in any of the next several days, thankfully.
TROPICS QUIET; LULL SET TO CONTINUE… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean remain quiet with no new tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days. Climatologically speaking, tropical activity will likely ramp up in the weeks ahead. The climatological peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season happens on September 11 each year.
