INCREASED AMOUNT OF POP-UP STORMS LIKELY THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING… Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely to develop in the P.M. hours on this Monday. Compared to yesterday, more communities are likely to have rain and storms before the end of the day. While widespread severe weather is not expected, some of the storms may produce localized downpours of heavy rain, gusty winds, and cloud-to-ground lightning. Storms will gradually fade away as we get into the hours after sunset.

CONSISTENT FORECAST AHEAD: P.M. STORMS… Pop-up thunderstorms will continue to be the norm not only today and tomorrow but toward the middle part and end of the week as well. Rain chances will spike on Wednesday and Thursday as more Gulf moisture streams into our area from the south. Most of the storms will happen in the afternoon and evening hours each day. High temperatures will consistently be around 90° in the days ahead with morning lows in the 60s.

TROPICS LIKELY TO REMAIN QUIET THIS WEEK… Tropical Storm Arlene dissipated over the weekend, as expected, in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico. The remnant low associated with Arlene has also faded. That means the Gulf of Mexico is now quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The same is true for the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea – no new tropical storms are expected to form through the weekend. The 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season runs through November 30.
