P.M. STORMS TODAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND… Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely to pop up on this Friday, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours. Unfortunately (and similar to the last few days), not every community will have rain before the end of the day. Any thunderstorms that fire up today will be capable of producing pockets of heavy rain, loud thunder, lightning, and gusty winds. Fortunately, there is no formal tornado risk anywhere close by today. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s and near 90 today.

MAINLY DRY FOR FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS… Most of the high school football games across south Alabama and northwest Florida will be dry this evening. There may be few games that have rain and storms around. You can keep tabs on the radar in the Radar tab of the RedZone Weather app. Game time temperatures around 7PM will be in the low-80s, falling into the 70s by the 4th quarter of each respective game.

HURRICANE LEE MOVING TOWARD NOVA SCOTIA… Hurricane Lee is now a category 1 hurricane with maximum winds near 85 mph. The storm is increasingly large with an expansive area of tropical storm force winds. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Cape Cod and for much of the New England coast, extending northeast to the U.S. and Canadian border. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for much of the coastline of Nova Scotia in Canada ahead of the arrival of Lee this weekend. Direct local impacts from Hurricane Lee will not happen in Alabama or northwest Florida.

MARGOT WELL AWAY FROM LAND AREAS… Hurricane Margot is located in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean well away from land areas. Margot is forecast to continue to move north over the eastern Atlantic Ocean and remain well away from the continental Untied States.

TROPICAL WAVE LIKELY TO BECOME TROPICAL STORM… The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a high (90%) chance of a tropical wave, currently located in the central Atlantic Ocean, becoming a named tropical storm while moving westward over the next few days. The tropical wave is expected to take a very similar track to where Hurricane Lee has been over the last few days. No immediate threat to land areas.
