SUNNY & NICE TODAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND… Sunny, nice days are in store today, tomorrow, and on Sunday. High temperatures will be in the low-70s today with mid- to upper-70s expected on Saturday and Sunday. The high school football games across the region will be dry this evening with temperatures in the 50s and 60s for most of the games. Overnight lows tonight won’t be AS cold as previous nights with most locales dipping into the 40s by daybreak on Saturday morning.
LOW-END RAIN CHANCES NEXT WEEK… Rain chances have, unfortunately, been lowered for the upcoming week. Global model guidance has backed off on the idea of having a good rain event for our area midweek. Rain will be possible, but not as likely, on Wednesday and Thursday as a cold front approaches from the north. Much of our local area is now involved in the Level 3 (out of 4) drought zone, meaning extreme drought conditions are in place for many communities across the region. Any rain is beneficial at this point.
TROPICAL UPDATE… The Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean are without any significant areas of concern and no tropical storms are expected to develop this weekend or early next week. An area of disturbed weather in the central Caribbean Sea is moving toward Honduras and Nicaragua. This tropical disturbance now only has a low-end (20%) chance of briefly becoming a tropical storm today or tomorrow. Regardless of if formal development happens, heavy rain and mudslides may become a concern across parts of Central America.
