MOSTLY SUNNY & WARM TODAY; SHOWERS ON FRIDAY… Warm, nice conditions are in the forecast on this Tuesday across the entirety of south Alabama and northwest Florida. Skies will remain mostly sunny throughout the day with high temperatures likely to be in the mid-80s. Our next chance of (much needed) rain happens on Friday when scattered showers will become possible. Right now, it looks like the greatest chance of showers and thunderstorms will happen in the afternoon and evening hours of Friday. Low-end rain chances (20% or less) will persist into the weekend as well.
TROPICS QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no new tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days. Some of the longer range global models show a tropical storm developing in about 2 weeks over the western Caribbean Sea but at this point, that is simply one idea on the table. Any data beyond 7 days out is simply not reliable enough to form any type of accurate forecast. This is true not only for tropical models but also for daily forecast models as well. Don’t trust any source beyond 7-10 days out.
