LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK TODAY; ANOTHER RISK SETS UP SATURDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day and into the evening hours on this Thursday. There is a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk zone in place for ALL of south Alabama and northwest Florida today. This means that widespread severe storms are unlikely, but one or two stronger storms can’t completely be ruled out. High temperatures on this Thursday will be in the low-70s.

SEVERE WEATHER TIMING – TODAY… 11AM to 7PM is the eight hour window when strong to severe storms may become possible today across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida. Any thunderstorms that happen to become strong or severe should not last very long and will be few and far between. Most locales across the region will simply have rain and thunder at times today.

LEVEL 1 (OUT OF 5) LOW-END RISK TODAY… The Storm Prediction Center has included ALL of our local area in their low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for today. A Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk is issued when severe storms are relatively unlikely, but one or two stronger storms cannot completely be ruled out. The low-end risk extends northward into central and north Alabama as well.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY FRIDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will again be possible tomorrow. Widespread severe storms are not expected tomorrow. High temperatures will be in the 70s on Friday.

LEVEL 2 (OUT OF 5) SEVERE WEATHER RISK ON SATURDAY… Scattered thunderstorms will become likely on Saturday. There is a chance a few of the thunderstorms become strong or severe before exiting our region to the east in the early evening hours. The Storm Prediction Center has included parts of Escambia (AL), Covington, Conecuh, Monroe, Butler counties, and points northeast in their Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for Saturday during the daytime hours. The good news concerning Saturday is that storms will be out of our local area, most likely, and to our east by 4PM.

DRIER, COOLER CONDITIONS SUNDAY INTO NEXT WEEK… Clearing skies are in the forecast on Sunday with high temperatures in the upper-50s and low-60s. Cooler, drier air will linger on Monday into Tuesday with highs likely to be in the 50s and morning lows in the 30s.
