SPOTTY STORMS POSSIBLE THIS EVENING; RAIN & STORMS LIKELY THRU WEEKEND… Isolated, pop-up showers and thunderstorms will develop across parts of south Alabama and northwest Florida this afternoon into the evening hours. Most communities across the region will remain dry but a few, brief downpours will be possible. High temperatures will approach the 80 degree mark this afternoon. Rain and thunderstorms will continue to be likely at times on Friday and into the weekend. Cooler, drier air is slated to arrive on Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week.
LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK TO OUR NORTH TOMORROW… The Storm Prediction Center has included much of central Alabama in their low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for Friday. This means that a few isolated severe thunderstorms may become possible. The main hazard concerns tomorrow across the central part of the state will be damaging wind gusts and hail up to the size of a quarter. Our local area in south Alabama and northwest Florida remains involved in the General Thunderstorms zone for Friday, meaning organized severe storms are unlikely locally.
RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES INTO THE WEEKEND… Saturday will feature a pattern when spotty thunderstorms will be possible, quite similar to today. High temperatures on Saturday will be in the low-80s. Sunday will likely feature more in the way of widespread rain and thunderstorms. Some of the storms on Sunday may be strong, but the overall severe weather risk will likely remain rather limited.
COOLER, DRIER CONDITIONS EARLY NEXT WEEK… After the passage of a cold front on Sunday evening, cooler, drier air will move into the local area. High temperatures on Monday will be in the upper-60s with overnight lows in the 40s for Tuesday morning. Highs on Tuesday are expected to be in the upper-60s as well.
