RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES TODAY; RISK OF SEVERE STORMS REMAINS QUITE LOW… Scattered thunderstorms are likely across south Alabama and northwest Florida at times on this Friday. The greatest chance of rain will happen from 9AM to 7PM today as rain and storms advance from west to east. There is a low-end risk of a few strong to severe storms specifically near the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. I am not expecting many thunderstorms to be severe, however. Surface-based instability will probably remain just offshore, thus limiting severe storms most likely. I will have radar updates posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app. Drier weather will arrive tomorrow and last until Monday afternoon. Nice, mild weather is in store for the weekend ahead of another chance of rain and thunderstorms setting up for Tuesday of the upcoming week.

SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON… Thunderstorms may be “loud and proud” at times over the next 12 hours or so. In addition to occasional loud thunder, heavy downpours of rain will be possible at times as a mass of rain and thunderstorms moves across our region today. Any thunderstorms that ramp up to strong or marginally severe levels near the Alabama or northwest Florida beaches may briefly produce a tornado or damaging wind gusts, but the odds of any specific community having severe weather issues today remains quite low, even near the beaches. High temperatures will be in the upper-60s and near 70 today.

MILD & NICE FOR SATURDAY AND SUNDAY… Dry conditions are expected this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday. Partly cloudy skies are likely each day. High temperatures will be in the low-70s each day.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY TUESDAY… Our next round of rain and thunderstorms (after today) will happen on Tuesday. There is a growing chance scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will be involved with the passing system on Tuesday, but details remain uncertain as the potential is still a few days away. I will have updates on this system in the days ahead in the RedZone Weather app.
