NICE WEDNESDAY; STORMS RETURN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY… Skies will gradually become mostly sunny on this Wednesday as clouds continue to clear to the east of south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-80s today. Our next significant chance of rain and thunderstorms will happen on Friday and Saturday.
RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY… Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are likely on Friday and Saturday. There is a chance for a few strong to severe storms on Friday and perhaps on Saturday as well. The Storm Prediction Center has included parts of Louisiana and southern Mississippi in their Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid on Friday. We will see if there is an expansion of the risk zone into our area on Friday or Saturday. That is a possibility.
FLASH FLOODING CONCERNS INLAND FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY… In addition to the possibility of a few strong to severe storms later this week and into the weekend, widespread rain totals of 1-2″ of rain are likely with isolated higher amounts. The soil across our region is now fairly saturated after multiple rounds of rain and storms over the last several days. This means that the potential exists for flash flooding across the region. Be aware of the potential for flash flooding as we go into the weekend.
