SCATTERED STORMS TODAY; NUMEROUS STORMS LIKELY TOMORROW… Showers and thunderstorms will pop up this afternoon into this evening across south Alabama and northwest Florida. I expect the overall coverage of rain and thunderstorms to be a bit less today compared to yesterday and certainly compared with tomorrow when storms will be numerous across the region. High temperatures will be around the 90 degree mark this afternoon.

HIGHER RAIN CHANCES ON THURSDAY… Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Thursday with a low-end risk of a few strong to severe storms. The overall tornado risk remains LOW, but any thunderstorms that become stronger will be capable of producing hail and gusty winds on Thursday into Thursday evening. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the upper-80s.

DRIER, HOTTER WEEKEND; LOW-END RAIN CHANCES… Rain chances will not be zero, but we are expecting lower (10-20% chance range) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Hotter temperatures are likely on Saturday and Sunday with highs in the mid-90s.

MORE STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES NEXT WEEK… If you miss having rain around this weekend, don’t fret as more pop-up showers and thunderstorms are likely as we get into the early part of next week. Scattered thunderstorms will be possible on Monday and Tuesday, particularly in the afternoon and evening hours.

TROPICS QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet. No tropical storms are expected to develop over the next 5 days. Longer range models are hinting at the potential for some tropical mischief in the western Caribbean or eastern Gulf of Mexico late next week, but that is simply an idea at this point and not set in stone. I will have further updates in the days ahead posted in the RedZone Weather app.
