WARM WEDNESDAY; RAIN LIKELY AT TIMES THU. P.M. AND FRIDAY; TROPICAL UPDATE… Skies will remain mostly sunny on this Wednesday with high temperatures slated to be in the upper-80s and near the 90 degree mark. Widespread rain is not expected today but we will have a chance of rain at times on Thursday evening into Friday. Despite the ongoing activity in the tropics, we have no imminent threats of tropical/hurricane issues in Alabama or northwest Florida.

RAIN AT TIMES TOMORROW EVENING AND ON FRIDAY… Showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms will be possible across south Alabama and northwest Florida on Thursday evening and Friday, specifically in areas closer to the coast. Some locales farther inland won’t have any rain at all. High temperatures will continue to be in the mid-80s tomorrow and Friday with morning lows in the mid- to upper-60s.

TROPICS: CARIBBEAN DISTURBANCE CONTINUES TO BE DISORGANIZED… The tropical disturbance that we have been tracking for several days in the western Caribbean Sea continues to be disorganized. Development probabilities of the system remain at about a 40% chance. Model guidance for the system shows the potential for a tropical depression or tropical storm to form in the southern Gulf in a few days, but this is (by no means) a guarantee. Many models show this system simply being a tropical disturbance for the duration of its existence, without ever becoming a formal system. This would be excellent news if this is the scenario that happens. This is a system that warrants us watching, but I see no credible evidence of this system ever directly, significantly affecting Alabama or northwest Florida right now. This is simply something to watch over the next few days.

HURRICANE KIRK TO REMAIN WELL AWAY FROM LAND AREAS… Hurricane Kirk is located in the central Atlantic Ocean well away from land areas. The strengthening hurricane will likely remain well away from land areas over the next 5 days. The National Hurricane Center forecast for Kirk shows the system ramping up to a category 3, major hurricane in a few days while remaining over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
