TROPICAL STORM EXPECTED TO DEVELOP IN CARIBBEAN SEA AND MOVE TOWARD SOUTHERN GULF… The Gulf of Mexico region will need to monitor an area of disturbed weather currently situated in the southwestern Caribbean Sea that is expected to organize and move northward in the days ahead. The National Hurricane Center says there is an 80% chance of a named tropical storm developing in the western Caribbean Sea over the next few days as this system moves generally to the north. While it remains too early to know if local impacts will happen because of this system, there is a growing probability of the system entering the southern Gulf of Mexico during the upcoming week. I will have more updates posted throughout the day about this system in the RedZone Weather app.

NICE, WARM WEEKEND LOCALLY; RAIN MIDWEEK… High temperatures will be in the mid-80s across south Alabama and northwest Florida today and tomorrow with a mix of sun and clouds each day. Widespread rain is not expected, unfortunately, meaning drought conditions will continue to worsen. We are seeing signs that we will enter an increasingly wet pattern starting as early as Tuesday when isolated showers and thunderstorms will become possible. Scattered thunderstorms are likely on Wednesday into Thursday.

APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download. Have a great weekend!
