PLEASANT WEATHER TODAY AND THRU THE WEEKEND; RAIN & STORMS NEXT WEEK… Full sunshine is expected today and through the weekend across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the low-70s today across the region. We’ll be in the mid- to upper-50s by 6PM, meaning the evening hours will be rather chilly. There is a high probability that temperatures will be in the 40s across much of the region by 6AM tomorrow morning. The good news is we have a full supply of sunshine expected for the weekend. Highs will be in the 70s on both Saturday and Sunday.
TROPICAL STORM SARA MAY CAUSE CATASTROPHIC FLOODING IN HONDURAS… Tropical Storm Sara continues to slowly move westward in the Caribbean Sea on this Friday. The storm will essentially stall out near the northern coastline of Honduras over the weekend, potentially causing major flash flooding due to excessive rain amounts. Sara will pick up forward speed on Sunday into Monday, likely making a landfall in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico or Belize. Sara will likely emerge as a much weaker system in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Most model guidance shows the system moving toward Florida next week, although details are still a bit scarce as to where the core of the storm will end up.
RAIN & STORMS RETURN LOCALLY ON TUESDAY… Our next chance of rain and thunderstorms will happen on Tuesday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. The overall risk of severe storms remains low, for now. Much cooler air arrives behind the advancing cold front midweek. High temperatures on Thursday of the upcoming week will be in the 60s.
