GORDON MOVING QUICKLY… Tropical Storm Gordon continues to rapidly move northwest across the central Gulf of Mexico, moving northwest at 15mph. Maximum sustained winds remain at 65 mph as of the latest 10AM advisory from the National Hurricane Center. One rain band has already reached the shores of Alabama and northwest Florida, and rain is falling near Foley, Orange Beach, and Dauphin Island right now. These rain bands must be carefully watched on radar, as the threat of isolated tornadoes continues to increase. Here’s the latest radar view with the “cone of uncertainty” included. A Mississippi Gulf Coast landfall is expected late this evening…

Quick review of the latest advisory from NHC continues to show the center of Gordon right on track… IMPORTANT: Impacts will extend well beyond this cone of uncertainty. Tropical systems are large weather systems and the cone is designed simply to show where the center of the large system will move.
