HOT DAY WITH A FEW STORMS… Isolated thunderstorms are again likely today across south Alabama and northwest Florida. The chance of any particular location experiencing rain/storms today is around 40%. High temperatures will be in the low- to mid-90s across the region.

HIGH RISK OF RIP CURRENTS… Lifeguards in the Destin and Fort Walton Beach area performed at least 86 beach/water rescues on Friday due to the high amount of rip currents happening along the coast. Today will feature red flags at many local beaches with another high risk of rip currents. 2 people have passed away due to drowning with several others (at least 5) transported to local hospitals because of rip currents in the last 3 days! If you’re headed to the beach today, please be aware of the HIGH RISK of potentially deadly rip currents that can easily sweep people out into deep water.

STORMS MOST LIKELY TO THE WEST… There is a slightly greater chance of rain and storms over our West Alabama counties today. The closer you are to the Alabama/Mississippi state line, the higher your rain chance will be today. We all have at least a 30-40% chance of rain, regardless of where you are. Have a way to check the radar throughout the day.

PREVIEWING THIS WEEK… Sunday will likely, overall, be the driest day of the upcoming 7 days as rain chances fall to around 20%. Rain chances progressively increase in the following days, up to a 60% chance of rain/storms by Wednesday. High temperatures will consistently be near 90° over the next few days. Widespread severe weather is not expected.

The tropics remain quiet. I’ll have plenty of updates today here in the RedZone Weather app.

Have a great Saturday!
