ALL CLEAR: SEVERE WEATHER RISK IS NOW OVER… The severe weather risk has ended for southwest Alabama and northwest Florida. The severe thunderstorm watch has been cancelled for all local counties. Showers and general (non-severe) thunderstorms will be possible tonight and into Sunday morning.

SEVERE WEATHER RISK CONTINUES IN SE AL & FL PANHANDLE… The risk of strong to severe thunderstorms will continue over the next few hours in Pike, Coffee, Dale, Henry, Barbour, Houston, and Geneva counties in southeast Alabama. We note a severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for parts of Coffee and Geneva counties in southeast Alabama until 5:45PM.

EVENT REVIEW… We had one tornado warning earlier today in parts of Mobile and Baldwin counties in southwest Alabama. No reports of any confirmed tornadoes, however. We also had several severe thunderstorm warnings. Clearly, the most destructive storm of the day is the one that happened in Elmore County, just north of Montgomery, near Wetumpka and Wallsboro. Numerous trees have been reported down. Several powerlines were damaged. Quarter size hail was also reported. That damage/hail happened because of a supercell thunderstorm that was able to become discrete/isolated and ramp up well above severe levels.

SHOWERS POSSIBLE SUNDAY MORNING; CLEARING IN AFTERNOON… Lingering showers will be possible overnight and into Sunday morning. There could be a few rumbles of thunder as well. The overall severe weather risk has dropped to near zero, however. Skies will begin to clear on Sunday afternoon and rain should be gone by lunchtime.

LOWER RAIN CHANCES MONDAY AND TUESDAY… The latest guidance suggests we will need to knock down rain chances for Monday and Tuesday into the 0-10% chance range. High temperatures will surge into the low-90s each afternoon.
