HOT WEDNESDAY, STORMS RETURN THURSDAY AFTERNOON… Today will be somewhat of a transition from a drier pattern to a wetter pattern as a few storms approach Alabama from the west. While rain chances across our local area remain VERY low today, there could be a few rogue showers or storms across Choctaw, Washington, Mobile, and Clarke counties in west Alabama later this evening. Again, most of us should be dry throughout the day. High temperatures will again peak in the upper-80s. Thursday will feature scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening hours ahead of several days of evening pop-up storms. Let’s look at a few details…

SEVERE WEATHER RISK TO THE WEST TODAY… If you’re traveling to eastern Texas, western Louisiana, or southern Arkansas today, be aware that there could be severe weather happening. Tornadoes and damaging winds will be concerns. No severe weather issues are expected locally.

STORMS RETURN ACROSS OUR AREA P.M. THURSDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to fire up on Thursday afternoon and evening across south Alabama and northwest Florida. There is a Level 1 (out of 5) marginal severe weather risk in place for parts of Washington, Clarke, Choctaw, and Marengo counties in west Alabama where a few stronger storms may happen. The main concern elsewhere across the region will be lightning, gusty winds, and very heavy downpours of rain.

SCATTERED STORMS THIS WEEKEND… Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will be remarkably consistent with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening hours. While the overall severe weather risk remains low, these storms could produce quite a bit of lightning.
