ISOLATED STORMS THIS AFTERNOON; WEEKEND TRENDS DRIER & HOTTER… Showers and thunderstorms will bubble up in the heat of the afternoon and evening hours on this Friday. High temperatures will peak in the mid-90s. We maintain a very low (10-20%) rain chance for Saturday into Sunday, although it is noted that a frontal boundary will likely push to the south of our area and keep vast majority of us dry this weekend. Any thunderstorms that form today will likely produce brief periods of heavy rain, quite a bit of cloud-to-ground lightning, and gusty winds. Severe weather is NOT expected today or into the weekend.

TEMPERATURES TO BE HOT AGAIN THIS WEEKEND… High temperatures will rise into the mid- to upper-90s across south Alabama and northwest Florida on Saturday and on Sunday. The immediate beach zones will peak in the low-90s in the afternoon hours. Grab the sunscreen if you’re headed to the beach as the UV index will also remain high, meaning sunburns will happen quickly.

HURRICANE SEASON STARTS TOMORROW… The 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially kicks off tomorrow (Saturday, June 1). No tropical storm formation is expected over the next few days. There is a low chance that a tropical disturbance may form in the central Atlantic Ocean (well away from land) in the next week or so. Impacts in the United States remain unlikely from that system.
