RAIN AT TIMES THROUGH TONIGHT; SEASONAL WEEK AHEAD… Sprinkles and several areas of light to moderate rain are happening across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Sunday evening. Temperatures won’t be moving much at all over the next 6-8 hours. Most spots are in the low-50s as of 1:30PM. High temperatures will be in the 51-54° range today. Rain will move to our east early on Monday morning. We dry out on Monday ahead of a nice Tuesday with slightly warmer temperatures. The dry conditions won’t last long, however, as Wednesday is when our next chance of rain happens. Another area of low pressure will move by on Friday into early Saturday, meaning yet another chance of rain. Let’s look at your Sunday evening forecast details.

SPRINKLES AND DREARINESS ACROSS THE REGION NOW… The coverage of light to moderate rain continues to increase across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida at the time this video is being produced (1:30PM Sunday). At the moment, the heaviest rain locally is happening across parts of southern Baldwin, Mobile, and Washington counties. I suspect that rain will be a bit heavier over parts of west Alabama in the next few hours. I am not expecting many, if any, thunderstorms today as there is simply no instability in place for storms to fire up. Rain will linger into the evening hours.

RAIN CLEARS OUT EARLY MONDAY… Most of our region should be dry by 6AM Monday. There could be a few lingering showers across parts of Covington, Butler, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties early Monday morning, but these showers will clear out by 9AM. Skies will remain cloudy through the morning hours on Monday but there will be some peeks of sunshine in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures on Monday will be in the mid- to upper-60s.

MOSTLY SUNNY TUESDAY… There is a high chance that Tuesday will be the nicest day, overall, out of the next 7 days. Mostly sunny skies are expected with temperatures peaking in the mid-60s. Clouds will probably increase in coverage late in the day ahead of our next rain chance slated for Wednesday.

NEXT RAIN CHANCE ON WEDNESDAY… An area of low pressure will move by our region on Wednesday, paving the way for scattered rain and maybe a few thunderstorms. If any thunderstorms happen, they will likely be well below severe limits. Storms are more likely to happen closer to the immediate coast where instability values will be above zero. High temperatures on Wednesday will be in the low-60s.

ANOTHER CHANCE OF SHOWERS LATER THIS WEEK… While Thursday will likely be dry with a few passing clouds, Friday will be when our area will be on the north side of a low pressure area that passes to our south in the northern Gulf of Mexico. This means our area will remain in the cool sector with no severe weather issues, under this particular model scenario. It looks like the greatest chance of rain will happen in the P.M. hours of Friday, although we still have several days between now and then. I’ll have updates throughout the week in the RedZone Weather app.
