SUNNY & WARM WEEKEND; NO RAIN TILL AT LEAST WEDNESDAY… Sunny skies are expected today, tomorrow (Saturday), and on Sunday as our quiet, warm weather pattern assumes a firm grip across south Alabama and northwest Florida. The big weather headline this weekend will be the increasing temperatures that bring our area into the low-90s by the time we get to Sunday and Monday. We’ve had a pattern flip over the last 48 hours that will cause our area to trend much warmer and much drier for the first half of May. Our next rain chance at this point is pretty questionable, most likely coming on Wednesday of the upcoming week, although models continue to trend drier with that system. Regardless, no severe weather is in the forecast for the next 7-14 days. Let’s look at a few details.

HOT TEMPS EARLY NEXT WEEK… High temperatures will likely surpass 90 degrees as we go into Sunday and Monday as a big ridge of high pressure builds in. Sunny, hot days will be the story early next week.

QUESTIONABLE RAIN CHANCE ON WEDNESDAY… A few showers may become possible on Wednesday as a weak frontal boundary approaches from the northwest. I will be surprised if we don’t have to strike the rain chance completely out of the forecast as models have continued to trend drier with this rain potential. If we end up not having rain on Wednesday, that could mean we may have an extended period of dry, warm weather perhaps extending to the middle part of the month!
