WILDFIRE RISK DECREASES TODAY; SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE FRIDAY EVENING… Pleasant, blue sky weather is expected across the region on this Thursday. The wind out of the north has finally subsided and relative humidity values are climbing this morning, meaning the risk of wildfires across our region will decrease today after a hyperactive wildfire situation across northwest Florida yesterday. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-70s with full sunshine likely throughout the day. Clouds will be on the increase later this evening ahead of showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms becoming possible on Friday evening. The good news is severe weather parameters remain low with this system. Next week, we start the week with plenty of sunshine. Let’s look at your forecast details.

INCREASING CLOUDINESS TONIGHT… Clouds will increase in coverage across the region tonight ahead of rising rain chances on Friday. Overnight lows will be near 50° by 6AM on Friday. The first showers associated with the advancing cold front will likely reach west Alabama by Friday late morning.

SHOWERS & STORMS FRIDAY EVENING… The greatest chance for rain will happen from 1PM Friday to 1AM on Saturday. Scattered areas of rain and thunderstorms are likely on Friday evening as a cold front approaches from the north. While there will be at least some atmospheric shear in place, overall instability levels will remain pretty low (less than 1,000 j/kg in most spots) thus likely limiting any severe weather issues. If any storms happen to briefly become strong on Friday evening, damaging straight line winds would be the main concern. I expect that any stronger storms would happen closer to the coast, but again, the overall severe weather risk remains very low.

FEW LINGERING SHOWERS SATURDAY MORNING… I can’t completely rule out a few showers early on Saturday morning, but the overall trend on Saturday during the daytime hours will be toward a drier pattern. Clouds will likely linger into the evening hours.

COOLER SATURDAY EVENING… Much cooler temperatures are expected for Saturday evening into Sunday morning. High temperatures on Saturday will struggle to get to the mid-70s, meaning most spots locally will top out in the upper-60s and near 70°. Overnight lows by 6AM Sunday will be in the mid- to upper-40s.

PARTLY CLOUDY SUNDAY… Clouds will progressively move out on Sunday, giving way to a mostly sunny afternoon/evening. High temperatures will rebound into the upper-70s and near 80°. No rain is expected on Sunday.

BUILDING HEAT EARLY NEXT WEEK… Mostly sunny skies are likely on Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week with high temperatures rising into the low- to mid-80s.
