THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY LATER TODAY… Happy Independence Day! Pop-up showers and thunderstorms are the story on this 4th of July. Showers and thunderstorms will be most numerous this afternoon into this evening. Loud thunder, cloud-to-ground lightning, gusty winds, and torrential downpours of rain will happen in the strongest storms. Some of the storms could be strong or marginally severe today with gusty winds capable of knocking down a tree or two. The tornado risk today remains very low, if not zero in most spots.
