CHILLY WEEKEND; RAIN RETURNS SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY… Cold temperatures will be in place across south Alabama and northwest Florida this weekend with high temperatures only in the upper-40s this afternoon. Sunday morning will be dry ahead of the potential for showers becoming possible Sunday night. Rain will increase in coverage on Monday morning. At this point, there continues to be a small chance of any snow or mixed precipitation locally. Yes, there may be a few flurries flying mixed in with the rain as precipitation exits our area on Monday afternoon and evening. No, we are not expecting a big snow or significant winter weather impacts. Below are a few more Saturday forecast notes.

ANOTHER COLD NIGHT AHEAD; LOWS BELOW FREEZING… Tonight has a real chance of being the coldest night out of any of the next seven nights. Overnight lows will be in the upper-20s for many spots north of Interstate 10. 5-7 hours of below freezing temperatures will be possible, especially for inland communities of south Alabama.

SUNSHINE SUNDAY MORNING; CLOUDS INCREASE IN P.M. HOURS… Mostly sunny skies tomorrow (Sunday) morning are likely ahead of increasing cloudiness in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures tomorrow will only be in the low-50s. I expect vast majority (if not all) of the region to be dry Sunday morning into Sunday afternoon ahead of the potential for showers on Sunday evening.

SHOWERS POSSIBLE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY… Areas of sprinkles and showers will be possible on Sunday evening, mainly in the hours after sunset. It looks like the bulk of these scattered showers will happen after midnight Sunday night into Monday morning. All of the precipitation that does happen on Sunday evening will be in the form of rain. There is a chance there could be a few flurries or sleet mixed in with the rain early Monday morning around 6AM in parts of west Alabama, but I expect no significant or notable accumulation at this time.

RAIN ON MONDAY; BRIEF CHANGEOVER TO FLURRIES OR SLEET POSSIBLE… Model trends continue to support the potential for a brief changeover to flurries or mixed precipitation for parts of west Alabama, particularly in parts of Monroe, Clarke, Washington, Choctaw, Marengo, and Wilcox counties locally. There is a high chance that many of us across south Alabama and northwest Florida will simply have rain on Monday at times with no snow or mixed precipitation. See more about the ongoing thoughts on the brief changeover potential from the post last night here: https://www.facebook.com/rzweather/posts/1790002807824717

SUNNY & COOL MIDWEEK AHEAD… Sunshine returns on Tuesday after the rain on Monday. Highs will be in the 50s next week with lows in the 30s. That is very near our climatological norms for this time of year.
