SUNNY & NICE TODAY; RAIN AND STORMS RETURN LATER THIS WEEK… Sunshine and nice weather will continue today and on Tuesday but we transition to more of an unsettled pattern later this week. Today, high temperatures will peak in the upper-70s and near 80 in most spots. Full sunshine is expected throughout the day on this Monday. Another sunny, nice day is ahead for Tuesday ahead of increasingly cloudy skies on Wednesday. Rain and storms are set to return to our forecast on Thursday into Friday as we go back into somewhat of an unsettled, warm, and wet pattern. I’ve got all of your Monday morning forecast details below.

WARMING TEMPS THIS WEEK… Temperatures continue to be in a warming trend after being markedly below our climatological norms last week after the passage of a strong cold front. High temperatures today will likely be around 80 in many spots. The real difference in temperatures happens in the early morning hours, however. This last weekend, temperatures were in the 40s. Overnight lows tonight into early Tuesday morning will be around 50, however. Wednesday morning, lows will be around 60. Highs near 80 with lows around 60 is quickly becoming our norm for the remainder of the week.

FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY EVENING… Skies will increasingly become cloudy Wednesday afternoon into the evening hours. There could be a few showers and perhaps an isolated thunderstorm or two as early as Wednesday evening. Most of the showers and storms on Wednesday should be widely spaced and isolated in nature. Most of the rain this week is slated to happen on Thursday into Friday for our local area.

SEVERE WEATHER RISK TO OUR NORTHWEST WEDNESDAY… The Storm Prediction Center has much of northern Mississippi and Arkansas involved in their Level 2 (out of 5) risk zone valid for Wednesday into early Thursday. This means scattered severe storms, including tornadoes will be possible in those areas. There is some indication that strong to severe storms could be an issue for parts of north Alabama and middle Tennessee on Thursday, but model scenarios have been inconsistent in this idea. We will be monitoring trends on this today and bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app.

THUNDERSTORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY AND FRIDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms return to our forecast on Thursday and on Friday as a warm wind out of the south ushers in copious amounts of Gulf moisture into our region. It remains too early to know the specific potential for strong storms locally, but I would imagine at least part of our area will be included in a low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk zone on Thursday and perhaps on Friday as well.

UNSETTLED PATTERN INTO THE WEEKEND… Warm temperatures with isolated showers and thunderstorms are ahead for the upcoming weekend. Highs this weekend will be in the low-80s with overnight lows in the low-60s.
