NICE TUESDAY; SHOWERS RETURN LATER THIS WEEK… Mostly sunny skies are expected on this Tuesday across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s today with full sunshine expected across the region. A few clouds may move into our area from the west later this evening, but no rain is expected today or on Wednesday. Our next chance of rain happens later this week, late Thursday into Friday when scattered showers and thunderstorms will again become possible. A few more Tuesday morning forecast notes are below.

WARM TEMPERATURES OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS… High temperatures will remain in the low- to mid-80s for the foreseeable future with morning lows near the 60 degree mark over the next few days. The cold snap we had a week or so ago may have been the last real shot of cold air for the season until we get to October. We likely will see a gradual warming of temperatures in early May that could lead to some areas seeing 90 degree temperature readings by the middle part of the month. Here comes summer!

RAIN RETURNS LATER THIS WEEK… Showers and thunderstorms will become possible late Thursday evening into Friday as a frontal boundary slides across our region. I do not see any notable signs of severe weather with this system, but rain could be heavy at times on Friday.

10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF APRIL 27 SUPER OUTBREAK… Today marks the 10 year anniversary of the generational tornado outbreak that happened on April 27, 2011. 62 tornadoes happened in the state of Alabama, killing 252 people and injuries thousands of others. The outbreak featured tornadoes that caused extensive damage in parts of Tuscaloosa, the western suburbs of Birmingham, Cullman, Hackleburg, and many other cities and towns across north and central Alabama. Our prayers are with the families of all those we lost in the violent tornado outbreak, 10 years ago today.
