STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE LATER TODAY… Rain and thunderstorms will become likely later this afternoon into the evening hours. Some of the thunderstorms could be strong or potentially severe, producing potential hazards such as large hail, damaging winds, and perhaps a tornado or two. The main window for the severe weather potential across our local area will be from 11AM to 9PM. Western parts of our local area have a slightly higher risk of severe storms compared to communities farther east. Storms will likely gradually weaken later this evening just after sunset and the severe weather risk should come to a close before we go to sleep tonight.

SEVERE WEATHER TIMING – TODAY… 11AM to 9PM remains the ten hour window when strong to severe thunderstorms will be most likely to happen across southwest Alabama and northwest Florida. 2PM to 6PM will probably be the four hour window when storms are at their peak in terms of coverage and intensity across the local area. Please have a way to get warnings throughout the day and join me on Facebook Live if and when we have tornado warnings for our local area.

UNSETTLED PATTERN THROUGH WEDNESDAY… Multiple rounds of rain and storms are ahead through Wednesday as our area will remain south of a warm front, thus in a warm, unstable sector where showers and storms will be possible each day. High temperatures today and over the next few days will be in the mid-80s with morning lows near 70.

TORNADO WARNING POLICY… Any time there is an active tornado warning in effect for southwest Alabama or northwest Florida, we provide uninterrupted, live video coverage on Facebook Live and in the RedZone Weather app. Our detailed coverage commitment is outlined at redzoneweather.com/coverage.
