MOSTLY SUNNY FOR MOST TODAY; FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE OVER WEST ALABAMA… Mostly cloudy skies will happen on the western side of our region today with mostly sunny skies on the eastern side. A few small, brief showers may happen this morning into the afternoon hours across parts of southwest Alabama. Rain amounts are expected to generally remain fairly low, however. More significant storms are expected today across parts of Louisiana and Texas where a Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk is in place. Over the next few days across our local area, we have an increasingly warm pattern. By the time we get to the weekend, some spots will likely hit the 90 degree mark in the afternoon and evening hours. Next week, mid-90s will be possible in the afternoon and evening hours.
RAIN AT TIMES TO OUR WEST TODAY… Scattered showers will happen across parts of Louisiana and Mississippi today. A few showers may also develop across west and southwest Alabama, particularly in parts of Baldwin, Mobile, Clarke, and Washington counties. Rain likely won’t last long, but some of the showers could briefly produce heavier downpours. Widespread rain and storms are not expected today, however.
INCREASING TEMPERATURES THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK… Most spots will rise to around the 90 degree mark in the temperature department this weekend ahead of mid-90s (!) becoming possible early next week. High temperatures may be near 95 degrees by Tuesday and Wednesday of the upcoming week!
TROPICS QUIET FOR NOW… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and northern Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no tropical storms or hurricanes expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The 2021 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially kicks off on Tuesday, June 1.
