LOTS OF SUNSHINE; HOTTEST WEEK OF 2021 SO FAR… This week will certainly be a “summer preview” with temperatures in the 90s each afternoon with plenty of sunshine. High temperatures may reach the mid- to upper-90s later this week across inland areas of south Alabama. Rain chances remain very low today and over the next few days due to the presence of an upper ridge of high pressure basically parked right over our area.

TROPICAL STORM ANA HEADED OUT TO SEA… The National Hurricane Center initiated advisories on Subtropical Storm Ana about 48 hours ago. Since then, Ana made the transition to a fully tropical storm (becoming more compact with a warm core). Tropical Storm Ana continues to move northeast over the open waters of the northern Atlantic Ocean. The system is now moving away from Bermuda. The final advisory will likely be issued soon on Ana as the storm will merge with a frontal boundary before fading away entirely.

REST OF TROPICS ARE QUIET, FOR NOW… The area of disturbed weather we were tracking on Friday in the western Gulf of Mexico (branded as INVEST 91L) did not develop into a classified tropical depression or tropical storm. The system remained weak, producing only scattered showers as it made landfall in east Texas on Saturday. 91L has faded away. The remainder of the Atlantic (other than Tropical Storm Ana), the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea are now quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5 days. Good news!

HOT, MOSTLY SUNNY DAYS AHEAD… Our local area will have a quiet, albeit hot, weather pattern over the next several days. High temperatures will climb into the mid- to upper-90s later this week. Morning lows will be in the mid- to upper-60s. Mostly sunny skies are expected through Friday.

NEXT RAIN CHANCE: SUNDAY… Our next notable chance of rain happens late Saturday night into Sunday, although confidence in this idea remains low for now. We’ll keep watching trends over the next few days and bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app.

APP… If you haven’t already, be sure to download the free RedZone Weather app to keep up with all the latest information on the world of weather in south Alabama and northwest Florida. redzoneweather.com/app is the link for the free download.
