NICE WEATHER THROUGH THE WEEKEND; RAIN RETURNS NEXT WEEK… Quiet weather, sunshine, and warmer temperatures are our lead weather headlines on this Thursday. High temperatures will rise into the mid-70s this afternoon across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Some spots may briefly hit 76 or 77° this afternoon. No rain is expected today or over the next few days. Our next rain chance happens late Sunday into Monday, although confidence in the idea of rain happening in that timeframe is rather low. The next more significant chance of rain happens Wednesday when a cold front will approach our area, potentially sparking off a few showers and thunderstorms. I’ve got your Thursday morning forecast details below.

WARMER THAN NORMAL TEMPS THIS WEEKEND… Much of November featured below average temperatures compared to our normal climatology for this time of year. Early December, however, will feature temperatures that are near or above our normal temps for this part of the year. Highs will be in the 70s over the next few days with morning lows in the 40s and 50s. This pattern will probably persist for quite some time, as I do not see any significant cold air intrusions in the short- or medium-range model data.

NEXT SIGNIFICANT CHANCE OF RAIN WEDNESDAY… Finally, it looks like our area will have some meaningful rainfall on Wednesday of the upcoming week (December 8). While it is far too early to know if severe weather will be a possibility, it is important to remember we are in the core of our secondary severe weather season which includes the months of November and December. Alabama and northwest Florida have seen some significant severe weather events during this time period over the years, thus being prepared for severe weather is key! I’ll keep watching the data and bring you the latest in the days ahead.
