MAINLY SUNNY TODAY; RAIN & STORMS LIKELY THURSDAY… Get out and enjoy the sunshine and mild temperatures today as clouds, rain, and thunderstorms are set to return to our weather forecast in the days ahead. High temperatures on this Tuesday will be in the upper-60s and near the 70 degree mark. Thursday could feature a few strong to severe thunderstorms, with at least some risk of a tornado or two across the local area. Heavy rain and flash flooding will also be concerns on Thursday. Much cooler air arrives Friday ahead of a seasonal, sunny Saturday. More Tuesday morning forecast details are below.

INCREASING RAIN CHANCES TOMORROW IN AFTERNOON… Scattered showers will become possible tomorrow (Wednesday), especially later in the evening hours. High temperatures on Wednesday will approach the 70 degree mark in many communities across the region.

STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY EVENING… Heavy rain and thunderstorms will become possible on Thursday, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours. While parameters are not incredibly supportive of strong to severe storms, there will be enough instability to cause the potential for a few severe storms to fire up. The main concern will be gusty winds in the stronger storms, although a tornado or two can’t completely be ruled out. I will have more information about the evolving severe weather risk on Thursday posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app.

HEAVY RAIN & FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE THURSDAY… While the overall risk of severe weather seems rather hindered by the lack of surface-based instability on Thursday, there will be ample Gulf moisture in place across the region to support the potential of heavy rain that could lead to flash flooding. It is impossible to know exactly where heavier rain bands will set up, but it appears widespread rain amounts of 1-2″ will be likely across the region with heavier isolated rain amounts being possible.

LINGERING SHOWERS FRIDAY; MUCH COOLER AIR ARRIVES… Showers will be possible on Friday, particularly in the morning hours, ahead of clearing skies later in the day. High temperatures on Friday will only be in the upper-50s and near 60 as cool, drier air moves in from the north behind the cold front that will have moved by Thursday night.

COOL WEEKEND; RAIN POSSIBLE SUNDAY… High temperatures will be in the 50s this weekend into early next week with overnight lows in the 30s. We may have to bump up rain chances for Sunday in future forecasts as a few showers may become possible. We note Saturday is likely to be dry, however.
