PARTLY CLOUDY TODAY; SCATTERED STORMS ON FRIDAY… Temperatures will make a run at the 90 degree mark this afternoon with partly cloudy skies expected throughout the day. A few showers and thunderstorms may be possible this afternoon into this evening, but I expect nearly all of us across south Alabama and northwest Florida to remain dry and quite warm. Patchy dense fog around this morning will burn off by 9AM. Looking ahead, our next considerable chance of rain happens on Friday when scattered storms are expected. Saturday could feature a few scattered storms as well ahead of drier conditions setting up for Sunday. A few more Wednesday morning forecast notes are below.

A FEW ROGUE SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE TODAY… While I cannot completely rule out a low-end (0-10%) chance of a few showers and thunderstorms today (particularly inland across southwest Alabama), the odds of rain happening in any given location across the region is quite low. Warm to hot temperatures (in the 87-91° range) are expected this afternoon.

REPEAT FORECAST FOR THURSDAY… Tomorrow will feature a nearly identical forecast to today with a low-end chance of a few showers with highs near 90 degrees.

LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK FOR FRIDAY… We’ll be watching a developing weather system to our west on Thursday that has prompted a Level 3 (out of 5) enhanced severe weather risk for parts of Arkansas and Mississippi. This system will move eastward and into our area on Friday. A Level 1 (out of 5), low-end severe weather risk zone will likely be needed for some or all of our area on Friday. This means that a few strong to marginally severe storms may be possible Friday locally. The main concerns in any storms that can ramp up to strong or severe levels on Friday will be the potential for gusty winds and hail. The overall tornado risk remains quite low.

FEW SHOWERS SATURDAY; DRIER SUNDAY… Lingering showers and storms will be possible on Saturday ahead of mostly sunny skies on Sunday. Highs will be in the upper-80s each day this weekend.
