MAINLY SUNNY WEDNESDAY; FEW SHOWERS & STORMS THIS WEEKEND… Another gorgeous, sunny, warm day is on tap on this Wednesday with high temperatures poised to be in the upper-80s this afternoon. No rain is expected today or on Thursday. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will become possible this weekend as a ridge of high pressure gradually shifts away from our local area. Fortunately, I see no signs of any significant severe weather impacts at any point in the next 7-10 days. May is usually one of our quieter weather months after the end of severe weather season and this year appears to be no exception.

SUBTROPICAL LOW MAY DEVELOP NEAR CAROLINA COAST… A non-tropical area of low pressure has developed in the western Atlantic Ocean between the North Carolina coast and Bermuda. This area of low pressure may take on some subtropical characteristics in the days ahead as the system meanders offshore from the Carolinas. There is a low-end chance the system may become a subtropical storm before moving inland later this week or into the weekend. If that happens, the system would take the first name from the 2022 Hurricane Naming List, “Alex.”
