MOSTLY SUNNY & HOT TODAY; RAIN & STORMS THIS WEEKEND… Hot temperatures are expected this afternoon into this evening with plenty of sunshine likely throughout the day. Highs on this Wednesday will be in the low- to mid-90s. Heat index values may surge into the upper-90s this afternoon. More hot days are ahead tomorrow and Friday. Temperatures will be ever so slightly cooler this weekend due to an increased coverage of showers and thunderstorms. A few more Wednesday morning forecast notes are below.

HOT DAYS THROUGH FRIDAY… The hot temperatures will be our weather headline today and tomorrow. Heat index values may reach 100° briefly this afternoon and again on Thursday afternoon. UV Index values will be quite high, meaning the time it takes for skin to sunburn will be low. Please wear sunscreen if you’re going to be outside for extended periods today.

RAIN CHANCES RISE THIS WEEKEND; SCATTERED STORMS AHEAD… Scattered pop-up thunderstorms will again become possible on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It looks like Saturday and Sunday could feature scattered to numerous storms across the area, meaning there is a good chance your hometown will get wet before the end of the day each day. I don’t expect “all day washout” conditions, but these scattered thunderstorms will be capable of “packing a punch” with heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail, and cloud-to-ground lightning.

2022 ATLANTIC HURRICANE NAMES… The 2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season kicks off two weeks from today on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. The tropical name lists for this year are: Alex, Bonnie, Colin, Danielle, Earl, Fiona, Gaston, Hermine, Ian, Julia, Karl, Lisa, Martin, Nicole, Owen, Paula, Richard, Shary, Tobias, Virginie, and Walter. In the event that we run out of names on the primary naming list, subsequent tropical storms and hurricanes will be named from the Auxiliary List, which has replaced the Greek Alphabet. Adria, Braylen, Carded, Deshawn, Emery, Foster, Gemma, and Heath are the first few names on the Auxiliary List.
