TD2 STRENGTHENS TO TROPICAL STORM ARLENE; WON’T BE A MAJOR LOCAL ISSUE… If you have to have a tropical storm in the Gulf on June 2, this is the kind you want! Tropical Depression 2 has strengthened into Tropical Storm Arlene this afternoon. Maximum winds near and northeast of the center of circulation are near 40 mph. Arlene will be a short-lived, weak tropical storm drifting south over the next day or two in the eastern Gulf.
It certainly feels great to say: NO significant local impacts from Tropical Storm Arlene are expected! Higher waves and rip currents will be possible at local beaches this weekend.
