QUITE HOT TODAY AND THIS WEEKEND; INCREASING RAIN CHANCES BY SUNDAY… Heat index values will again be in the 108-113° range on this Friday. We will finally begin to experience SOME relief from the excessive heat on Sunday into Monday, although hot temperatures are here to stay all summer long most likely. The difference early next week is that “hot temperatures” will be much more in line with what our area is accustomed to as opposed to heat index values in excess of 110°. Rain chances are slated to rise as we get into next week as well. More P.M. storms are expected.

TROPICAL UPDATE… The Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and main development region (MDR) of the Atlantic Ocean remain quiet with no new tropical storms expected to develop over the next 5-7 days. The National Hurricane Center indicates that an area of disturbed weather east of Bermuda may briefly develop into a named tropical storm over the next 24-48 hours. Gusty winds and heavy rain may be possible at times near Bermuda because of this feature. Direct U.S. impacts are not expected, regardless of if formal development happens.
