AFTERNOON & EVENING SCATTERED STORMS TODAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue to be likely at times on this Tuesday. The greatest chance of showers and thunderstorms will happen in coastal counties (Mobile, Baldwin, Escambia [FL], Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa) while the overall coverage of thunderstorms farther inland will be a bit less. Any thunderstorms that develop today locally will be capable of producing cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, gusty winds, and heavy downpours of rain. Overall, our local forecast will not change that much as we get into the upcoming days. More P.M. storms are likely with high temperatures in the 90s.

TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IN ATLANTIC EAST OF BERMUDA… The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a growing chance (now a 40% chance) of a named tropical storm developing east of Bermuda in the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean over the next several days. From NHC: “An area of low pressure is expected to form in a day or so several hundred miles to the east-northeast of Bermuda. Environmental conditions are expected to be marginally conducive for development, and the system could become a subtropical or tropical depression during the next few days while it moves generally eastward. By the weekend, the low should turn northward bringing the system over cooler waters, likely limiting additional development.”
