ANOTHER HOT DAY BUT COOLER AIR ARRIVES FRIDAY NIGHT… Today will be the last 90 degree day for awhile as cooler air starts filtering into our region late tomorrow night. High temperatures will be near or at the 90 degree mark on this Thursday. A few locales may briefly have a shower or two this afternoon but nearly all of us across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry during the daytime hours. A few showers and thunderstorms may happen tonight into Friday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. Much cooler, drier air arrives early Saturday with highs this weekend likely to be in the 70s.
TROPICS: PHILIPPE MOVING NORTH… A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Bermuda today as Tropical Storm Philippe is moving north toward the island. Tropical storm conditions are likely in Bermuda starting tonight extending through Friday and into early Saturday morning. Philippe is forecast to remain at tropical storm strength while moving increasingly quickly to the north across the Atlantic Ocean. Landfall is likely on Saturday or Sunday in the Canadian Maritimes or in the U.S. state of Maine. Before Philippe arrives to that general area, the system is expected to become a post-tropical system. Philippe poses no direct threats to Alabama or northwest Florida.
TROPICS: GULF OF MEXICO & CARIBBEAN SEA CONTINUE TO BE QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea remain quiet for now. No tropical storms are expected to develop over the next 5-7 days in the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean Sea.
