COOL DAYS & CHILLY NIGHTS AHEAD… Skies will gradually become sunny across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Monday. High temperatures will be in the upper-60s today. Tonight is slated to be a chilly night with overnight lows set to be in the upper-40s by daybreak on Friday. We have a streak of dry, mostly sunny days ahead through Thursday. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may become possible on Friday as a cold front approaches from the northwest.

TROPICS: T.D. SEAN TO DISSIPATE… Tropical Storm Sean weakened to tropical depression status over the weekend. The highly sheared, weak system is located several hundred miles east of the Lesser Antilles in the open waters of the central Atlantic Ocean. Sean is expected to completely dissipate today. The system is not a threat to any land areas.

TROPICS: TROPICAL WAVE EAST OF SEAN… Showers and thunderstorms associated with a tropical wave a few hundred miles to the east of Tropical Depression Sean in the open waters of the central Atlantic Ocean are happening because of a tropical wave moving westward. This tropical wave has an 80% chance of becoming a named tropical storm while pushing westward in the days ahead. From the National Hurricane Center: “A broad area of low pressure located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing some showers and thunderstorms. While this system is less organized since yesterday, the overall environmental conditions are forecast to become more conducive for development, and a tropical depression is still likely to form around midweek while the system moves westward or west-northwestward across the central and western tropical Atlantic.”

TROPICS: GULF OF MEXICO & CARIBBEAN SEA QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea remain quiet with no new tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days.
