SUNNY TUESDAY; NEXT RAIN CHANCE HAPPENS FRIDAY… Sunny, nice weather is expected across much of the Deep South, including locally in south Alabama and northwest Florida, on this Tuesday. High temperatures will peak in the low-70s this afternoon. That means temperatures are running a bit below our climatological norms for this time of year. Most spots will be in the low- to mid-40s by daybreak on Wednesday.

MILD DAYS; COOL NIGHTS AHEAD… High temperatures will gradually rise over the next several days, reaching the upper-70s and near 80 by Friday. Overnight lows will continue to be in the 40s through Thursday morning.

NEXT CHANCE OF RAIN LOCALLY HAPPENS FRIDAY… Dry conditions are in the forecast today, tomorrow, and on Thursday. A cold front will approach our area from the northwest on Friday, paving the way for scattered showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms. Early indications point to the greater chances of rain happening across inland areas of south Alabama.

GULF & CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET, FOR NOW… The Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea remain quiet for now. No tropical storms are expected to develop over the next 5-7 days in the Gulf or the Caribbean Sea.

TROPICAL WAVE IN CENTRAL ATLANTIC… The National Hurricane Center continues to suggest there is a high chance of a tropical depression or tropical storm forming in the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean in the days ahead. From NHC: “A broad area of low pressure located over the central tropical Atlantic about midway between the Windward Islands and western Africa is producing disorganized shower activity. The low-level circulation has become better defined since yesterday and, since environmental conditions are expected to remain conducive for further development, a tropical depression is still likely to form within a few days. This system is forecast to move westward or west-northwestward across the central and western tropical Atlantic during the next several days.”
