WARM DAYS AND COOL NIGHTS THIS WEEK; NO RAIN IN FORECAST FOR NOW… No beneficial rain is in the forecast as drought conditions continue to worsen across the region. The silver lining to that is we have a slew of nice, warm days ahead across south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the mid-80s today with morning lows in the mid-50s by 6AM Tuesday. Skies will be mostly sunny each day this week.

TROPICS: GROWING CHANCE OF TROPICAL STORM FORMING NEAR NICARAGUA… The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a growing chance (60%) of a tropical storm forming today in the Caribbean Sea. From NHC: “Showers and thunderstorms have changed little in organization since this morning in association with a low pressure system located over the southwestern Caribbean Sea. However, environmental conditions are favorable for development, and a tropical depression could form before the system moves inland over Nicaragua by early Tuesday. Regardless of development, this system could produce heavy rains over portions of Central America during the next couple of days.”

TROPICS: TAMMY MOVING NORTH IN ATLANTIC… Hurricane Tammy has now moved north of the Leeward Islands in the southwestern Atlantic Ocean. Tammy is set to continue to move north over the next few days. There is ample uncertainty later this week into the weekend as to where Tammy ends up. Some of the global models show movement out to sea while others show movement farther west, closer to the Eastern Seaboard of the U.S. We will continue to monitor Tammy over the next few days and bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app.

TROPICS: GULF OF MEXICO REMAINS QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico is not expected to support any new tropical storms forming over the next 5-7 days. Outside of the aforementioned disturbance near the Nicaraguan coast and Hurricane Tammy, the remainder of the Atlantic Basin currently does not have any hotspots expected to develop into tropical storms this week.
