MAINLY SUNNY TODAY; THUNDERSTORMS LIKELY FRIDAY INTO THE WEEKEND… Mostly sunny skies this morning will give way to a more cloudy sky later this evening with high temperatures near the 60 degree mark on this Wednesday. No rain is expected locally today but we will have quite a bit of rain (and probably thunderstorms) around on Friday and into the weekend. High temperatures will be in the mid-60s tomorrow with dry conditions during the daytime hours. Rain will become possible Thursday night into Friday across the local area.

SEVERE WEATHER RISK SETS UP TO OUR WEST TOMORROW… The Storm Prediction Center has included much of east Texas and western Louisiana in severe weather risk zones valid for Thursday. A Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk is in place for Houston, Galveston, Lufkin, and Orange, Texas. A few tornadoes and damaging wind gusts will be possible tomorrow in and near these cities. This same weather system will approach our region Thursday night into Friday.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY LOCALLY FRIDAY… Multiple waves of rain and thunderstorms are likely on Friday, Saturday, and into Sunday. There is a chance we may have a few strong to severe storms around on Friday or Saturday, with a focus for stronger storms probably happening near the immediate coast. Temperatures will rise into the 70s for afternoon highs on Friday and Saturday.

HURRICANE SEASON ENDS TOMORROW… The 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season is set to come to an end tomorrow (Thursday, November 30). No new tropical storms are expected to develop across the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, or the Atlantic Ocean anytime soon. The 2023 season featured 21 tropical depressions, 20 tropical storms, 7 hurricanes, and 3 major hurricanes. The strongest hurricane was Hurricane Lee that peaked at category 5 intensity over the Atlantic Ocean.
