RAIN SHOWERS LATER TODAY INTO TONIGHT; SHARPLY COLDER FOR THE WEEKEND… Sprinkles and light rain will be possible this afternoon, this evening, and into tonight as an area of low pressure moves by our local area. No winter precipitation is expected as temperatures will be warmer across the southern half of Alabama and northwest Florida over the next 24 hours. The rain today is happening ahead of a cold front that will usher in a reinforcing shot of very cold, Arctic air. Overnight lows this weekend will again be in the 10s and 20s with highs only in the 40s on both Saturday and Sunday. Next week will feature warmer temperatures with multiple chances of rain by the end of the week.

QUITE COLD FOR THE WEEKEND… Behind the rain tonight into Friday, we have another reinforcing shot of Arctic cold air set to move into our region. Overnight lows on Saturday morning will be in the upper-10s inland with low-20s closer to the coast. High temperatures on Saturday and Sunday will be in the 40s. Overnight lows on Sunday morning will be in the low-20s. Very cold conditions this weekend! Fortunately, no rain or precipitation around to complicate travel.

TEMPERATURES TO WARM NEXT WEEK… Our local area will likely experience a warm up as we get into early next week. High temperatures will be in the 60s by Tuesday with a chance of rain and thunderstorms. The pattern toward the middle and end of next week looks increasingly active with multiple chance of rain and storms. It is a bit too early to speculate whether severe storms may be realistically possible. I will monitor trends over the next few days and bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app.
