RAIN & STORMS TODAY; DRIER MIDWEEK; SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE LATER THIS WEEK… Rain and intermittent thunderstorms will continue to be possible across the region throughout the day on this Tuesday. The overall risk of any severe storms today remains quite low. Rain and storm coverage will gradually decrease this afternoon into this evening. High temperatures across the region will be in the upper-60s and near 70. Drier conditions are in store for Wednesday and Thursday ahead of more rain and thunderstorms later this week. There is a chance our local area may experience a few strong to severe storms on Friday into early Saturday.

VERY LOW RISK OF SEVERE STORMS TODAY; HEAVY RAIN POSSIBLE AT TIMES… Today is expected to feature good, old fashioned RAIN in most spots across south Alabama and northwest Florida. You may hear some rumbles of thunder at times but thunderstorms are expected to remain below severe limits in nearly all communities across the region. There is a brief chance a warm front moves onshore later today and surges just far enough north that a conditional risk of a few stronger storms happens in coastal counties. The overall odds of any severe storms today remains LOW at this point, however. I will have updates posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app.

DRIER WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY… High temperatures will be in the upper-70s on Wednesday and low-80s on Thursday. Lingering clouds are expected on Wednesday morning with mostly sunny skies in the afternoon hours and on Thursday. Both days are expected to be dry.

SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE FRIDAY P.M. INTO SATURDAY… Strong to severe storms will become possible later this week, specifically on Friday P.M. into early Saturday A.M. The Storm Prediction Center has included all of south Alabama and northwest Florida in their Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk zone valid for Friday into Saturday morning. This means that scattered instances of tornadoes and damaging wind gusts will be possible. It remains a bit too early to nail down specific timing but the overall guidance points to Friday evening into Saturday morning being the most likely time for severe storms with a growing chance that at least some of the severe weather potential happens in the overnight hours.

I will have more updates posted about the severe weather setup coming on Friday into Saturday in the days ahead.
