WARM & FEW SHOWERS TODAY; STRONG STORMS THU. INTO FRIDAY… Isolated showers will be possible again on this Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s and near the 90 degree mark this afternoon. Active weather is on the way for the latter part of the week, specifically on Thursday evening into Friday when strong to severe storms may become possible parts of our local area.

SEVERE WEATHER ISSUES WELL TO OUR NORTH TODAY… After yesterday’s Level 5 (out of 5) high risk of severe storms verified across parts of Oklahoma and Kansas with multiple tornadoes and very large hail, the severe weather risk today has shifted farther north and east. The Storm Prediction Center includes Columbus (OH), Dayton (OH), and Fort Wayne (IN) in a Level 3 (out of 5) severe weather risk zone today. Surrounding that risk, a Level 2 risk also includes much of Kentucky and northern Tennessee. The lower-end, Level 1 (out of 5) risk is in place for much of the northern half of Alabama and Mississippi today. Any rain and thunderstorms should remain quite spotty across our local area, however.

HIGHS NEAR 90° OVER NEXT FEW DAYS… Warm conditions are set to continue today, tomorrow, and on Thursday with high temperatures expected to be near the 90 degree mark each afternoon. Overnight lows are slated to be in the upper-60s and near 70.

STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY P.M. INTO FRIDAY; RAIN CHANCES HIGHEST INLAND… Rain and thunderstorms become likely, particularly across inland areas, on Thursday evening into Friday. There is a chance some of these storms become strong or even severe. The overall tornado risk will probably end up being a bit less than the overall risk for damaging wind gusts and hail. This is a developing situation that we will need to monitor carefully as the latter part of the week approaches. Be sure to join me for updates in the RedZone Weather app.

BRIEF COOLDOWN THIS WEEKEND… This will, perhaps, be the last cooldown of the season with slightly cooler air taking hold of our local weather pattern on Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures on Saturday will drop into the upper-70s with morning lows likely to be in the 50s.
