PARTLY CLOUDY TODAY; STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE THU. NIGHT INTO FRIDAY… Nice, warm weather is in store for us across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Wednesday. High temperatures will be in the upper-80s and low-90s across the region. Partly cloudy skies are likely throughout the day with low (not zero) rain chances. Any showers that flare up will be brief, short-lived, and highly isolated in nature, just like what happened over the last few days. Our focus is increasingly on Thursday evening into Friday morning when our next chance of active weather arrives. Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible tomorrow night into Friday morning.

WARM CONDITIONS TODAY AND TOMORROW… Dry conditions are expected for much of the day on this Wednesday. Just like the last several days, I cannot completely rule out a few highly isolated showers but MOST locales will remain dry across the region. Tomorrow, rain chances will steadily increase throughout the day with scattered showers and thunderstorms becoming possible in the afternoon and evening hours. The severe weather risk will ramp up long after sunset, perhaps even after midnight in most locations across the region.

SEVERE WEATHER TIMING – THU. INTO FRIDAY MORNING… The 12 hour window for strong to severe thunderstorms across south Alabama and northwest Florida is from 6PM Thursday to 6AM Friday. I will likely be able to make further refinements to this timeframe as more data comes in today and tomorrow, so please check back in for updates over the next day or so.

MAIN HAZARDS TOMORROW NIGHT INTO FRIDAY: GUSTY WINDS & HAIL… Thunderstorms are expected to develop in advance of a cold front pushing through our local area on Friday that will pave the way for cooler temperatures this weekend. Right now, gusty winds and large hail appear to be the main hazard concerns Thursday evening into Friday morning. The overall tornado risk remains low, but not zero!

NICE WEATHER THIS WEEKEND… The severe weather setup Thursday evening into Friday morning is in response to a cold front pushing into our region from the northwest. This cold front is set to bring cooler temperatures for the weekend. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper-70s and near 80 with morning lows in the upper-50s on Saturday morning. High temperatures on Sunday will be in the low-80s.

RAIN AT TIMES NEXT WEEK… Our weather pattern next week looks increasingly unsettled with multiple chances of rain and thunderstorms being possible. Tuesday, in particular, looks wet with scattered showers and thunderstorms becoming possible. I will have more details on rain and storms becoming likely next week after we get through this first round of storms Thursday into Friday.
